He has worked in movies and television as a background actor, (we do not use the term “extra”), but perhaps he is the kiss of death for television shows: he has been in three of them, all of which have been cancelled before completing the first season (including the now infamous “Do No Harm”, which only aired twice before getting the axe).

If you care about someone who mistreats animals and wrongly portrays strong women by gloating about it......Please, BOYCOTT THIS AUTHOR. What a vindictive bitch this person is. She planted her garden near where rabbits are, and didn't do a good job of securing it so animals couldn't get to it. This beautiful bunny was only doing what is natural for him. So the rabbit ate your parsley.....sheesh. Then to photograph it half skinned & gloat how she sure did fix that damned rabbit - wow, what a woman. (spat) pure evil.

My teenage son ordered this book, he received an electric guitar for xmas. I can say I can hear a difference from before he had the book to after, he says its very easy to follow. He seems to be picking it up pretty fast. I think using this book is a good start for anyone.

I found this series, the 4th edition, to be especially informative because of the inclusion of history and culture of the time period, in English, as well as colour photographs.
As for the format of the book, I found it to be an easy read. Almost every stage begins with line drawings ("cartoons"), which introduces grammar, characters and sets the "stage" for what is to follow. Then there are a number of stories in each stage; proved for fun group quiz games (EUGE!). At the end of each story new vocabulary is included. Also there are vocabulary checklists, which you should know, at the end of the stage. Sometimes, the vocabulary at the end of the stories appears in the checklists further along in book. If this becomes a problem, my suggestion would be to make flashcards for each of the stages (proven study aid).
I do think that an improvement to later editions would be to include an English-Latin dictionary of the words used within the book, as well as pronunciation. Yet, nothing that an external English-Latin = Latin-English dictionary could not handle.

I am an entirely self-taught student of Latin, and the Cambridge series has been a big part of my learning experience, particularly this volume. The Cambridge approach is excellent for self-guided learning, breaking down complex grammar topics and supporting them with plenty of Latin text.
The lessons consist of a Latin text from an on-going, original story. The difficulty increases, but slowly. I never felt like I wasn't prepared to move on to the next stage, because new concepts are introduced one at a time. Each chapter also includes a cultural section in English, a couple of new grammar concepts, and some practice exercises.

This book is particularly good because the later chapters leave the original story behind, and turn instead to excerpts of real Latin texts. The difficulty does jump up a notch, but it's a welcome challenge.

As much as I liked it, a couple things could have been done better. I would have liked to see a more comprehensive approach to grammar, rather than having bits and pieces scattered about. I also would have liked for the answers to all exercises to be available in the back, so I could check myself.

Overall, this is an excellent book for an intermediate student, and I only wish there were more books in the series.
