Ann Marie Gardinier Halstead is a professor, award-winning writer, speaker, and bullying-prevention advocate. She is the author of the bullying prevention play Have You Filled a Bucket Today? (starring Bucket Filling Fairy!) based on the award-winning books by Carol McCloud. Ann Marie has discussed bullying-prevention programming on the radio (NCPR, Parenting Matters Radio, Dr. On Call, Motherhood with Dr. Christina Hibbert) and television (Talented People, The Big Picture With Thom Hartmann). In addition to writing plays and children's books, she blogs for The Huffington Post, 30 Second Mom, and Team Bossy Gals, and has also been published in edutopia, Compact Impact, and Southern Theatre. Her bullying-prevention song, The Bucket Filling Song, is available on iTunes. Ann Marie lives in Richmond, Virginia with her husband, two sons, and a 90 pound German Shepard.

This book should be owned by everyone!

What a wonderful book! A lot of books are written telling children NOT to bully, but this book gives children an easy to understand solution to help them avoid becoming a bully, even if it might be unintentional on their part. I recommend this book highly! Don’t miss this one!

For classrooms. For birthday/holiday gifts. For EVERY child.

A fantastic must-have for every elementary school library and classroom. As an elementary principal, I appreciate the message in Bucket Filling Fairy and know that this book will help children openly discuss bullying in a positive way. There is such a life-long message for all children (and adults) in this story. The illustrations are beautiful and supportive. The author combines prose and rhyme in a unique and skillful manner which adds to the charm of this book. Bucket Filling Fairy is just...perfect!

Great book for kids!

If you are familiar with Carol McCloud's award winning book Have You Filled A Bucket Today? then you will love this book! The concept of "Bucket Filling" is all about being kind to others, described in a way that kids of all ages can understand. If you say or do something nice for someone, you are filling their bucket. Bucket Filling Fairy takes this concept and adds fun characters, magical rhymes, and a great story that your child will love! My kids are 3, 6, and 9 and they all loved this book. Also, if you have boys, don't worry about the fact that there's a fairy in this story. Bucket Filling Fairy (or BFF) wears combat boots and has spoons in her hair (for filling buckets, of course)! The main character is a boy, Trey, who has been a bit of a trouble maker at camp. BFF shows up and uses her special magic to teach him how to fill others' buckets, instead of dipping them. This book is a lot of fun but it also conveys an extremely important message for our children. More than anything, I want my kids to treat others with kindness, as they wish to be treated themselves. This gives me one more way to help instill this life lesson. I hope to see more books about BFF as it would make a great series.
